UNSAPolls: St Lawrence University Guild President Elijah Mutabaazi Declares His Intent To Run For UNSA Presidency Ahead Of December Polls

After what may be described as a successful tenure in office as the 15th Guild President of St Lawrence University, His Excellency Mutabaazi Elijah, 15th St Lawrence’s Guild President has made an official proclamation that he is worthy and qualified to extend his leadership skills to the Uganda National Students’ Association (UNSA)
Elijah made this declaration early on Thursday evening, a move which was welcomed by most St Lawrence University students who would like to send one of their own to represent them at the Students’ body.
“You can’t stop an idea whose time has come. We are Elijah Mutabaazi for UNSA President. Strong leadership guarantees a secure future,” Elijah’s diehard, one of the students commented on the move
However, some of the students who are hungry for accountability during Elijah’s tenure as Guild President have thrown negative sentiments on this declaration voicing and questioning his capability to lead. However, Elijah Mutabaazi has responded to their concerns.
“We should concentrate on politics of positivity rather than pulling our colleagues down. I will go to UNSA and shall deliver to the expectations of the students fraternity of Uganda,” said Elijah.

The 15th Guild President of St Lawrence University faces stiff competition from Kakayi Nimrod, Shaa Francis from Makerere University, Aine Peter from Valley University , Sserwadda Racheal from Uganda Christian University, (UCU) and other 15 aspirants from different universities and institutions

UNSA is the umbrella body that unites students’ leaders at tertiary and secondary levels of education in Uganda. It was established under Section 30 of the Education Act. It replaced the National Union of Students of Uganda (NUSU) in 1998 to end supposed inequality and discrimination in the organisation. It is mandated to voice students’ concerns, ensure students’ welfare and build effective leadership among students. It is managed in accordance with the UNSA constitution.
The current President of UNSA is Yusuf Welunga from Islamic University In Uganda ( IUIU) who is ready to hand over the office in December this year for another person to replace him.
