UNTOLD STORY: Marystuart Hall Residents Decry Insecurity At hall Of Residence

Residents of Mary Stuart Hall at Makerere University have petitioned the Dean of students calling for strengthening of security in and around the premises.

Through Chairlady Marystuart hall avers that they lose computers, smartphones to people who climb perimeter walls and sneak into their rooms.
“Ladies in Mary Stuart Hall have reported to me of the thieves that enter into their rooms during day light and in the night and steal their properties,” says the Chairlady Marystuart hall

The area is said to have limited security lights and this has put female students at a risk of being raped.

However the hall warden called for immediate closure of the small gate behind the Hall which is believed to be the shortcut for the thieves as it is not even authorized for use.

Different students told our reporter today at campus that security at campus and within hall of residences should be increased especially halls of residence of girls because they are at verge of being ramped by unknown men who enter their rooms in night hours

Chairlady Marystuart hall, admitted that they have registered a number of theft cases where majority of girls have lost their phones, laptops, clothes and foot wears

She went on to say that they are doing everything they can to make the students life is safe by educating them to be vigilant about their lives and properties.

Some students also said that the University administration is not doing enough to ensure that enough police officers are stationed at various halls of residence to ensure the safety of student’s property

The Chairlady Marystuart hall has called upon the University’s intervention to have students’ properties and lives secured
