Pictorial: University students finally donates relief to people of Karamoja

Ik Campaign was an initiative started by students of kyambogo University to save lives of starving people of Karamoja.
The campaign kicked started on Wednesday, Jul 20, 2022 at the Banda based campus under the theme, “Students together to Save the starving people of Karamoja.”


However after collection of finance which was used to buy food and items like clothing,shoes among others.

According to kizito Julius,”10 students went of which 8 where from kyambogo University these included (Kizito Julius, kakembo martin, Nowembabazi Allan, Balikowa Nelson, Ongu Denis,Ogwal Vincent, Okono Michael ,Sharon) and 2 students from Makerere University ( Otyang Lucius and Ogwang Onyende).


“We went to Lorengdwat sub county in Nabiratuk district and our team reached to more than 200families in three parishes ie Nathiyonit, Kamaturu and Nalithae parish in Lorengdwat” he added.

The CDO and the chairmen of those parishes helped the students in the distribution of food and also mobilizing the most vulnerable people in that area.


Kizito concluded ” we are planning for another drive in karamoja probably in October or November and we call all students in the nation to respond and get involved in this cause of saving the starving lives in karamoj. We want every university,institution and school to get involved.”


The ultimate goal is to awaken the youth to get involved in activities that impact the development of the nation and making them realise their full potentials as young people.
