Photos: Thousands flood IUEA for Hi Skool Kiromo Wonder World edition

The 2022 Hi Skool Kiromo attracted thousands of teenagers to the International University of East Africa (IUEA) basketball court for a lineup of performances from top Ugandan artists.

The Hi Skool Kiromo event is an initiative of MC Ollo and Ouma Marketing Agency. It is meant to provide a platform for teenagers in schools and mentor them on how to achieve their dreams and aspirations.

The Kiromo Wonder World edition was held on Saturday, August 20th by MC Ollo. He was joined by other MCs, including NBS Television’s MC Kats and MC Casmir.

The event connected teens to their favourite artists that included Azawi, An-known, Gravity Omutujju, Fefe Busi, Mudra, Chosen Blood, Levixon, Liam Voice, The Baninas, Jowy Landa, Hellen Lukoma, among others.

Teens danced and sang their hearts out as the artists performed their favourite hits such as Tusimbudde, Party Mood, and Chikibombe.

Teens’ favourite DJs, such as DJ Alibreezy and DJ Liquid, made the teens jump to hot mixes.

Different teens also showcased their fashion styles, singing and dancing talents. Schools like Elite High School, Rubaga High School, St. Peter’s Nalya SS, St. Mary’s College Kitende, Bishop Cipriano Kihangire, St. Julian, Kizito High School and others were well represented.

The day also featured a lot of fun activities in the Wonder World Amusement Park where thousands made lengthy lines for rides on the Bumper cars, Caterpillar, Mini Rail, Mono Rail, Octopus, and Pirate Ship.

The swimming pools, both for children and adults, were full to capacity. Water slide lovers had a blast as they rolled the week’s stress away on the slides.

Aside from the teens, a number of University students, parents and little children also turned up in numbers for the day’s blast.

This was the highest and most successful Hi Skool Kiromo turn up, following the 1st term April edition at Kati Kati, Lugogo.

Luo boy Ollo was more than happy seeing the huge turn up of people at the event and the support he received.

He took it to his Twitter saying; ” They never believed in us, but God did. THIS IS THE BIGGEST YOUTH CELEBRATION #HiSkoolKiromo. Thank you all for the support – from the sponsors, the artists, partners and the Teenz that showed up.”

Sponsors such as Shuya Pads and IUEA gifted the teens with lots of goodies. Others were lucky enough to secure IUEA scholarships for the 2022 August intake.

The IUEA Marketing Team Leader, Mr Nicholas Isabirye, told us that the university’s aim is not only to be the best but also to provide affordable education to everyone while caring about their social and academic lives.

He believes that school life is not only about books, but also about having fun, practising sports, and developing talents, that is why IUEA is tapping into the entertainment industry.
