Muk Guild electrol committee extends the Nomination for presidential candidates

The chairperson of the Makerere University electrol commission has extended the period of  receiving the Nomination forms for the guild presidential candidates up to 30th July 2022 not later than 8pm. The committee informs all aspirants  that they Will not receive any nomination form  exceeding 8pm tomorrow.

The notice States that the nomination was due to unavoidable circumstances.

This came after  the VC Prof Nawangwe suspended three students belonging to the National Unity Platform (NUP) and interested in running for guild president on the opposition party’s ticket.

Edrine Price Bbosa, Calvin Mwesigwa Mugambwa and his campaign manager Roy Rugumayo, and Kenneth Katushabe were suspended until further notice for flouting Rule 9(b) of the university rules and regulations which bars students from engaging in activities likely to cause breach of peace.

The aspirants are accused of  mounting road blocks, stopping motorists, inciting other students for unlawful action, using unacceptable language, forcing other students out of lecture rooms, dressing in a provocative manner, extorting funds, inciting violence and throwing stones and other objects targeting persons, vehicles and buildings.
