All Roads to Livingstone Hall ahead of today’s UYD Debate and Elections
All is set for Makerere University’s popular party Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) MUK chapter, a political youth wing of Democratic Party (DP) as they undergo primary elections today 23 june 2022, at livingstone hall at 9:00am-1:00pm to choose a flag bearer in the forthcoming Makerere University guild elections.
The race has so far attracted four candidates, who will jostle it out on Today to sell their manifesto amongst the delegates, with debate first and later elections in the evening.
UYD Makerere Chapter invited Hon. Mukasa Fred Mbidde EALA member of Parliament to grace thé function.
Who is Hon.Mukasa Fred Mbidde?
Ugandan lawyer, human-rights activist, mass communication specialist, motivational speaker and politician.
He is a member, a former chief legal advisor, the current national vice president of the Democratic Party, (DP).
He is also a member of the Pan African Lawyers Union and the Coalition for an Effective African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (African Court Coalition).
He first gained prominence in 2001 when serving as the Guild President for Makerere University.

Prosper Ahabwe Julian
He is a young, intelligent, focused shrewd third year Law student, poised to edge his opponents, who have seemed to have already given him a go ahead. Actually according to sources, his opponents are said to have held a meeting last night, where they agreed to remain in the race ,for him not to look like he forced his way into a sole candidature.
The three had wanted to bow out for him but they agreed to just remain there for the sake of
democracy. Prosper as he is popularly known at the university can be traced during Fees must fall strike days.
With his oratory skills, having been a debating national champion, Prosper is good at articulating issues, especially when it comes to the woes of a common Makerere student.
Namiirembe Blessious
She is a second year, trainee teacher student and the second lady in the race. She has previously served as Deputy prime Minister MESA at School of Éducation She believes this is the time for Makerere to produce another female guild president, after Ex guild Nambassa Shamim who was the 5th female guild in the history of the university’s top student’s leadership position, with others being males.
Nankunda Racheal
She is a member in the party who also announced intentions to run as guild president in the forthcoming university polls. She made this announcement weeks back at the party’s general assembly. She is quoted to be using a slogan which has confused many
Kisomoso Emmanuel
He is second year student at School of Éducation. He served as off-campus minister at MESA cabinet. He is among thé four candidates vying for thé UYD flag today.
