Makerere University NUP Guild Aspirant Mwesigwa Calvin Mugambwa Designated MCM Was Arrested Today By Police For Protesting Against Online Voting



There was drama today at senate after the Makerere University Guild Presidential Aspirant of the National Unity Platform Mwesigwa Calvin famously known for organizing the 87th guild health series at different school levels was arrested by Police when he was trying tô take his letter tô Dean of students about his disastification with online voting system

Mwesigwa Calvin Mugambwa , a resident of Mitchell Hall was bundled infront of senate parking yard by Police officers under unclear charges and hurled to Makerere Police Station, where he is still detained by press time.
Our reporters at the Police station said the presidential aspirant received visitors today who included among others Makerere University strike master roy rugamayo

“We want him freed. There is nothing he did wrong. Unless the Police are suggesting that it is criminal to be a supporter of NUP.” roy rugamayo told our reporters.
From our discussions with some of the police officers who were part of the arresting group, Mwesigwa Calvin Mugambwa and his colleague he was arrested with. “were inciting violence tô the public tô stage a protest and they will be taken tô courts of law tô answer the charges says Makerere University police station spokesperson

According tô the letter Mwesigwa wrote responding to the dean of student’s letter about the update on E-voting election arguing that we cant have online voting yet all students are back phyiscally at campus

According tô Mwesigwa Calvin Mugambwa’s suggestion tô respond tô Dean of students letter was tô clarfy about last year’s online system of voting that was problematic and disturbing since majority of students failed tô cast their votes after the system had totally jamed due tô electronic errors

Yesterday majority of guild aspirants represented their letter including Mpiirwomugisha Isaiah Ntendeere, mugisa Christopher, hussein lbra, justus Tukamushaba, namirembe blessious and many others responding tô Dean of students’ directives tô have E-voting election take place next month

Mwesigwa Calvin Mugambwa is still behind bars but his team is fighting hard to see that hopeful presidential guild aspirant gets bail today according news reaching our desk this evening
