Uganda wins 2022 Rugby Africa Sevens

The pearl of Africa aka Uganda won the 2022 Rugby Africa Sevens after defeating Zimbabwe 28-0 in the final at Kyadondo Rugby Club on Sunday.

Ian Munyani gave Uganda the lead with the first try, and Philip Wokorach made no mistake for the conversion for a 7-0 lead at halftime.Uganda captain Michael Wokorach scored the team’s second try, before Timothy Kisiga added two more to seal the win.
addition to winning the African crown, Uganda also qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the Rugby Sevens World Cup in South Africa.
It was a Southern African affair as Zimbabwe beat Zambia, 26-17, in the first semifinal.
In the second semifinal, Uganda outmuscled Kenya, 22-12, in what was an exciting East African derby.
2022 Africa Men’s Sevens are an annual African rugby sevens tournament that took place at the Kyadondo Rugby Club, Kampala between 23 and 24 April 2022; they were held in Uganda for the second time. The top three teams qualified for the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town; in addition, the top two Commonwealth teams not already qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games .
