Internship new places for kyambogo university students

Kyambogo University has partnered with China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) for collaboration in the areas of internship, employment of graduates, Joint research, and technology transfer, among others.
Prof. Eli Katunguka – Rwakishaya, the Vice Chancellor appreciated the opportunity since Kyambogo University has a niche in Engineering, it would generate knowledge in the oil and gas sector and a boost in Human Resource development. He said that KyU and CNOOC in this collaboration should organize and facilitate joint online public lectures where students of Engineering can attend and get more knowledge on what happens in the world of industry. This was during a consultative meeting held in the University Council room.
In her presentation during the consultative meeting, Dr. Catherine Wandera, the Dean Faculty of Engineering said potential areas of collaboration would include Curriculum Review, Establishment of relevant facilities for training, Industrial Training Attachment (Internship), Research (Joint identification of relevant research topics and data collection) and mentorship of Students. She identified the need for staff exchanges to enable academic staff to participate in CNOOC activities and training; CNOOC staff to participate in KyU activities as well as Kyambogo University providing CNOOC with graduate trainees.

Mr. Gao Qiang who represented the Vice President of CNOOC said this collaboration will focus on Internship, Recruitment of graduates, Joint research, Scholarships, Training, information exchange, public lectures as well as Organizing symposia, conferences, short courses and participating in industrial, academic, cultural and social activities.
