Kyambogo University’s student leaders petition Vice Chancellor over Central Registration and Students portal Crisis

Kyambogo University Guild Representative Councilors, Hon Mandwa Elijah (GRC for School of Management), Hon. Nkurunziza Alphonse (GRC Faculty of Engineering and Ex Dep. Prime Minister), Hon. Kamya Carlos (GRC for School of Management and EX. Minister for Ethics and Integrity) have today engaged the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eli Katunguka through a petition over anormalies in the central registration process and the students portal system.
These developments come at a time when majority students are experiencing a challenge of the students portal system reflecting incomplete data as 0% tuition and functional fees payment even when a student has completed to zero balance.
The impact has worst hit the first year students who are going through a central registration process in which majority of them have been sent back by their respective registrars at the different faculties.
These have had to bounce back these students as they couldn’t register them when their portals have not reflected full payment of tuition and functional fees.
However tension is mounting amongst first years as examinations are slated to commence on 29th November 2021 and yet majority of them have not been registered and hence are likely to miss out with examinations if the crisis is not fixed urgently.

The students leaders recommend that the ICT department of the university be directed to address the challenge of the portal system failing to reflect 100% tuition payment before the beginning of examinations or the university issue out clear guidelines as to how examinations will be handled without excluding any student facing the challenge of portal system and central registration.
