Kyambogo student leaders led by the guild president Mbazira john senior have today held a press conference to adress uncertainties in the education sector.
According to the letter released by today by 17th guild during th press conference ,it reads that in june 2021,schools and universities were shut down inorder to enforce the SOPs which were considered best for covid 19 prevention in absence of vaccination, however nothing was done.
The guild president stated that there is no evidence that the government is doing enough to support the health care services so as others systems like education system can be reopened despite the loans and donation from locals and International bodies requested to support the cause.
In trying to cover up different messes at play, the government of Uganda through OPM and Ministry of gender recently came up with a Covid-19 relief fund in the guise of supporting the most vulnerable during this lockdown which hasn’t been sustainable.
Kyambogo leadership questioned the government’s handling of the Covid-19 crisis that has left the learners lagging behind.
Mbazira with alot of sorrow on his heart about how the leaders of this country do their things. He unleashed alot of issues that are taking this country in what he called a dead end.
Mr. Mbaziira John talked about the corruption that has became the order of the day in Uganda more specifically in the office of the prime minister. He said the the 100, 000shs relief fund from the Prime Minister was to disorganise Ugandans and divert them from the corruption that swindled the covid 19 relief donations.
The angry and sad N.U.P guild president asked where the rest of the donated funds were because it’s only the recent 3.6 billion git from the IMF that were accounted for. He further asked the government to devise means of fixing the education system, health system and also frame a proper exist plan from the lock down.
All of this could be possible only after mass vaccination that has failed the government, he said.
Due to the excess swindling of the covid relief funds Mr. Mbaziira in his words called for national wide campaigns against covid relief funds because they don’t benefit the common person.

In light of the letter , Mbazira promised to roll the nation wide companies/action demanding for immediate suspension of covid 19 relief project and demanding the government to consider prioritisng fixing the message in the education system through,
2. Increasing the funding of public institutions to enable them establish and expand infrastructure like covid-19 isolation facilities, procuring equipment and P.E
3. Funding for strengthening the e-learning management systems through; -zero rating the e-learning platforms, procuring 1.C.T gadgets for students at a subsidized cost and Re-tooling their staff
4. Government through its ministry of information and technology implements a strategy in extending strong internet to the other parts of the country.
5. Government revokes its un-reasonable 12% internet tax. We shall stage different actions at different administrative units demanding to improve the status of the health and education systems across the country, the students demanded.

As he concluded, he also stood firm with H.E Ivan Ssempijja who was arrested yesterday as he took a petition to the ministry of education and sports.
