Mbarara university professor invented covid 19 cure drug

A reputable Ugandan pharmacist, pharmacologist and scholar with a PhD in his area of expertise – Professor Patrick Engeu Ogwang came out; claiming he had invented a herbal drug that cures COVID-19.

Dubbed COVIDEX, the drug was re-designed and re-purposed from a product which was initially for toothache and mouth Hygiene due to its strong anti-viral components extracted from medicinal plants, according to Prof Ogwang.

Giving proof of effectiveness, Prof Ogwang explained situations in which at least two of his colleagues recovered from Coronavirus with negative tests having used the drug for a period of about three (3) days.

“Last year around December two of my colleagues in the university got severe covid with one admitted in hospital and put on oxygen. I gave them the formula which I call covidex andin 3 days of use they great improved and became negative” Prof Ogwang narrated.

“This year petronella called me about a colleague who was on oxygen due to covid and she requested for my help. I gave her 6 bottles which the patient and again in 3 days improved and was put off oxygen later tested negative and was discharged” he added, explaining the second “successful” effective application of the herbal drug.

Having carried out an extensive study on the product, Prof Ogwang says they (research team) discovered a compound that is scientifically proven to kill the Coronavirus in lab experiments. It’s with that basis, that the Professor started receiving an overwhelming number of calls seeking the herbal solution to treat COVID-19. The professor stepped up and took the production of the COVIDEX drug to a large scale.

“With increasing cases of covid I started getting many people calling for solution from me. I then began large scale production and many Ugandans are benefitting now. I will share messages from clients. So even though we are still carrying our more tests we now know that covidex has a natural compound that stops corona virus from multiplying” Prof Ogwang explained.

The Professor now recommends the COVIDEX as a drop to combat killing of the virus in the nasopharynx (upper part of the throat behind the nose), mouth and oesophagus regions on the body and he hopes to take the drug a notch higher by improving it to reach into the blood stream for systemic effects against a virus that has left the globe in mayhem with millions of lives lost.

According to an image of the drug that Campus Bee has seen, a full dose of the COVIDEX drug goes for UGX 42,000.

A Ugandan author and civil engineer, Mr. Nick Twinamatsiko, who reportedly happens to have known and worked closely with Prof Ogwang in undergraduate years commented commented about the matter saying that, in an environment where best performing students slip into obscurity and nothing is ever done worth writing about in the land, Prof. Ogwang stood out and clearly defied the pattern.

It is worth mentioning that Prof Ogwang was the figure behind the development of number of effective vaccines such as Artavol – Artavoplus for malaria prevention and immune system strength, jenacof for coughs and flue, Jenacid – Jenapep for peptic ulcers, Jena Dm for diabetes, Jena HT for high blood pressure, Jena Sm for sickle cell disease among others all made from medicinal plants.

Dr Ogwang (PhD) is a Professor of Pharmacy at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) whose focus of research is on testing, developing and producing medicines from plants based on traditional medicine knowledge in a mix with scientific laboratory evidence.
