KAMPALA – The Head of Bar Course has summoned eight bar course students who featured in a viral self-recorded video shared online showing them dancing to the controversial Tumbiza song at the High Court Commercial Division Premises in Kampala.

The eight law students are supposed to appear at their Law Development offices without fail.

Among those summoned include Ann Kakidi, Annet Nambafum, Kellen Kalungi, Mary Nabirye Zeridah, Gloria Nyinamasiko, Justine Kyomuhendo, Immaculate Kamaliza and Edith Basemera.

In an email to the students, Victor Omega on behalf of the Head of the Bar Course noted that matters to be discussed with them will be tabled before them on arrival.

“Treat this with the seriousness it deserves and endeavour to keep time.”

One of the student Kakidi had, however, written a letter to Justices Henry Peter Adonyo, Justice Duncan Gaswaga, Justice Richard Wabwire, Justice Boniface Wamala and Justice Susan Abinyo apologising for shooting the video.

“I humbly write to you to express my sincere apologies for the misconduct I was involved in yesterday January 4 at the Commercial Court Premises. I am Kakidi a clerkship student at commercial court. My colleague and I engaged in shooting a video at around 10:00 am around the court premises.

My behavior was inappropriate and did not reflect the respect that was expected in court. There is, however, no excuse for such kind of bad behavior. Am deeply sorry for the misconduct and I pray for your pardon. This will never happen again and it’s a bid lesson to always think twice before taking certain decision as an aspiring advocate,” Kakidi indicated.

Last December, the Director-General of Health Services in the Ministry of Health Dr. Henry Mwebesa wrote to Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) asking them to immediately ban the broadcast of a popular song Tumbiza Sound by Eric Opoka aka EeZzy.

Mwebesa in his letter dated December 4, 2020, claimed that the song was causing misinformation among different audiences and subsequently creating complacency among the public.

The Ministry of health officials would later meet Opoka and it was agreed he should rewrite his lyrics.
