Nup’s presidential candidate bobi wine freed on abail

National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential candidate Robert kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has been granted bail Friday after spending two nights at Nalufenya Police station in jinja. Kyagulanyi who was presented in the Iganga Magistrate’s court is being charged with doing an act likely to spread infectious diseases, under section 171 of the Penal Code Act.

Bobi wine was arrested in luuka on Tuesday at around 11am by police under the command of frank mwesigye charging him for violating Covid 19 rules put in place to contain the spread. He was later on taken to jinja at Nalufenya where he spent two nights in a cell.

This caused chaos and violence over the country by the people power supporters demanding for his release and over 38 people died.

While in the court , bobi wine said “I am here to tell Museveni, we are not slaves in our country_Uganda is our country and we shall liberate it,” Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi has been given a non-cash bail of Shs1m and his sureties, Shs5m each.
