Joshua Cheptegei sets new 5000meter world record

The world 10,000m champion clocked 12mins 35.36 seconds at the stable Louis 11 to shatter Ethiopian kenenisa Bakele’s previous record. In perfect condition with little wind and temperature of 27degrees Celsius (81f), cheptegei clocked 12min 35.36 seconds to shutter kenenisa Bakele’s previous world best 12mins 37.35seconds set in 2004.cheptegei said, “I had the best best coach and best stuff that kept him motivated and pushed him”. Following the exhibition events in Oslo and Zurich in June, Diamond league in Monaco marked the start of the competitive season.
